Super Cup Showdown

Pentre Mawr was ready and set for the Green Army Ladies to welcome Lampeter Ladies in a Super Cup show down.

With the sun shining down, and the pitch looking in pristine condition, the home and away fans gathered on the pitch side ready for the kick off....

With Temporary Captain Alisha Minor leading the green army girls to the battle field, the girls were hungry for a win after some recent defeats. Lampeter Ladies were also looking to retain their winning streak of 2017, and both teams looking to make it through to the next round of the super cup their was nothing to loose.

With kick off under way, Abergele were first to receive the ball, and drove the ball straight throught Lampeter defence, with a lot of forward play gaining yards down the field. Lampeter having to put some work in to keep the Green Amry ladies away from the try line.

With Abergele making a few errors of loosing the ball this gave Lampeter a chance to work the green army defence, with some quick forward play.

trying to gain some extra yards, each side used their kickers to create some opportunities to get closer to scoring but both sides were holding strong defensive lines,

for the majority of the first half the play didnt budge over the half way line.

With not much time to spare of the first half the green army ladies gained a penalty, in a perfect condition for elz to have an attempt at the posts. the number 10's magic foot gave the green amry girls 3 points for the taking.

HALF TIME 3-0

With the seoncd half underway, Lampeter Ladies were looking to close the narror 3 point lead with some strong scrumages, and some crash balls, Abergele holding their defensive line.

The Green Army conceaded a penalty, which Lampeter saw an opportunity for the post but unable to gain three points.

Lampeter came through pushing the green army defence more than ever on the try line, crashing the ball though and through, but with some awesome defensive work the green army girls managed to hold up not one but two tries...

the pressure was now on Abergele after one of their players receiving a yellow card, now down to 14 they had to work hard to keep their narrow lead.

with not much time to spare on the clock, Lampeter had another penalty advantage at the post, but again unable to claim the 3 points.

Back to the half way, Abergele made a break, but lampeters defence made it hard for the girls in green to make a break.

With the clock counting down the last play, Lampeter Ladies conceaded another penalty, all or nothing the number 10 again lined up the ball for the posts, gliding through with a perfect kick, the game ended on a high at 6-0.

Both Teams played an awesome game of rugby for all the supporters.

Special thanks go to Lampeter Ladies for making the trip up North, and for a great game.

Not forgetting Abegele's stand in Captain Alisha Minor, who done the team and club proud.

Thanks for the continued support from families, friends and supporters and the club.

With the Green Army sitting in second place in the league, and through to the next round of the supercup. the end of the season is looking bright.

TAN GELE!
