Nant Conwy 55 - 0 Abergele

The score line suggests a one-sided contest but, although Nant were worth their high margin of victory, Gele certainly made the hosts work for the full eighty minutes.

Nant played their usual fast fluid attacking rugby, probing the visitors defence close to the breakdown and then wide out and opened the scoring after 10 minutes. Gele learnt some harsh lessons about ball retention and on 4 occasions whilst looking for a way through in Nant’s 22 lost possession to see Nant break away to score at the other end.

Chris Meyers won good lineout ball under pressure and the breakdown area was keenly contested by both teams, the home side blindside flanker working hard to disrupt the Gele possession.

The visitors tackled hard for the full eighty and some great carrying by, as usual, Josh Woods and Anthony Tilley with Dewi Roberts also making good yardage. The backs, well marshalled by Ben Jones, looked to spread the ball at every opportunity but were denied by a well organised defence.

Although disappointed by the margin, Gele can be buoyed by the positive comments from the home supporters who were generous in their praise of Gele’s efforts and enterprise until the final whistle.
