ABERGELE U10'S V NANT CONWY U10'S

Abergele under 10s showed signs of rustiness but can take plenty of positives from their first game playing to the new rules of under 10s rugby. Playing against a well drilled and experienced Nant Conwy team they didn’t look too off the pace but need to up the aggression and work on their rucking for the future games. Nant flew out the blocks and caught Gele napping with a try from the first play with Gele not yet in gear slipping off tackles. New signing and ex Nant player Archie Macbain led from the front with some real solid forward running causing the opposition some real problems. Lucy Batey and Troy Fazackerly followed suit by getting some good momentum to peg Nant back. Nant came back with some solid running of their own but Gele had woken up and one of Last year’s braveheart winners Harvey Meyers was starting where he left off tackling anything and everything he could to stop the attacks!  Nant continued to attack getting a few extra scores before half time.

Second half started much better with Ffion Williams and Bailey Davies taking it in turns competing for the number 9 position both giving good ball out at the breakdown and both tackling well! Bobby Barnaby made some fantastic runs forward causing the Nant defence some real problems offloading to the supporting Enlli Hinks who distributed it wide well to the quick paced Aidan Herndlhofer unfortunately coming up just short. Nant came back at Gele gaining good momentum that was thwarted well by the tackling of Oliver Williams who was much improved in defence and Kian Williams who had woken up for the second half upping his tackles and rucking. Gele were camped by the own line for a lot of the last 10 minutes but some quick thinking from Hayden Meyers to clear the Gele lines with 3 great kicks which were chased up well  by the aggressive Brychan Hughes who was all over the pitch for most of the game.

Lots of positives to take from the game with a long season in front of them and plenty of chance to improve.
