Hywel's Preview and Predictions Div 1 North Saturday 8th April

Another array of great matches with a full league programme this Saturday

The exciting title chase continues and the relegation battle could culminate in a shoot out at Meifod.

First out of the stalls are Pesda, safe from relegation following their 3-0 win at Colwyn Bay, when they welcome Bala(4th) to Dol Ddafydd. The Maes Gwyniad men who were rained off last week have come out on top twice this season and on form they should have the upper hand to take the points.

Third placed Caernarfon host Bro and will look to avenge the 40-31 defeat in a very exciting encounter earlier in the season. The Cofis did not see any action last week whilst Bro went down at home to Llandudno. The hosts who have only lost one league game at home so far this season may prove too strong for the visitors.

Make or break time at Meifod when home side COBRA need maximum points to have any chance of Div 1 survival. A win by visitors Rhuthun will seal COBRA's fate and mean that the Blues will be safe. A very tense encounter on the cards but Rhuthun's form of late and their previous two victories over their hosts this season make them favourites.

Mold welcome bottom club Abergele to Chester Road. Both teams suffered heavy defeats last time out but Mold who won 39-22 earlier in the season should take the points on Saturday.

Leaders Nant entertain neighbours Colwyn Bay who are out of the relegation battle following their losing bonus point last week against Pesda. Nant won comfortably at COBRA and will look for another bonus point victory to maintain their lead at the top. They won 43-0 at Brookfield Road in December. Home win.

Match of the day will be the clash between current Champions Pwllheli and Llandudno at Maesdu Road. This match will bring back memories of last season's final match, the epic encounter between these two sides when Pwllheli clinched the title with a 38-33 victory. Both teams are in good form and have the pace and power to make it a cracker. Pwllheli won 36-13 at Bodegroes, it could be closer this time but they may have the edge.
