Abergele U10’s 40 – 0 Llangefni U10’s

Under 10s earn biggest win of the season

After minimal games this season due to weather Abergele under 10s came into this game with very few games under their belt but showed absolutely no rustiness to get their biggest victory of the season. Llangefni started the game off with some good passing but the aggressive defence of the Gele youngsters lead by the ever-impressive Meyers twins forced the turn over. Captain of the day Troy Fazackerly lead by example with his usual powerful runs being too much for the Cefni defence getting the first try of the day, the excitement obviously got the better of the team as they all decided to join in with a 'floss' dance much to the annoyance of their coach who quickly told them to refrain from doing so! Defence again was impressive with solid tackling forcing an error for Gele to pounce on and great agility by Bailey Davies lead to the 2nd try after he outpaced his opposite number. The ever-impressive Ffion Williams fed quick ball to her fly half to unleash Aidan Herndlhofer who got in on the action with some weaving in and out to get a well-deserved try, the conversion was unfortunately missed. Some excellent defence as always by George Clemence lead to a turnover, allowing Bobby Barnaby to crash through the defence using exceptional hands to keep hold of the ball behind his own back only to be denied by some last gasp defence. The last try of the half was a well-executed drill off the back of a scrum, Harvey Meyers taking the ball well from Ffion to switch the ball with twin brother Hayden to bamboozle the defence and score on the blind side showing that the training sessions are starting to pay off.

The second half saw some changes in personnel allowing the sizeable squad a fair share of game time, Kian Fazackerley moved to scrum half and fed good ball to forwards William Hewitt and Harley Hodge to crash through and offload superbly. The teams defence was impressive all game allowing the Cefni attack nowhere near the Gele try line and the returning Kian Williams as well as the ever improving Harri Lewis held strong in that defence forcing handling errors for a Gele scrum. Brychan Hughes showed his dominance by getting the ball from an offload to run through the defence offloading out wide with good vision to set the attack clear into space. The games last two tries came from the Meyers twins both scoring out wide of good handling backs moves.

An exceptional performance from the under 10s which will boost confidence before next week’s tournament at Wrexham.

A big well done to the 10s who stepped up and played alongside the under 11s against a very good Nant Conwy team after the Llangefni game, showing that there is much to look forward to going into next season. Also, the 11s that have been struggling for game time can hold their heads high after some very good individual and team performances, with a few training sessions together the performances will surely follow.
