Hywel's Preview and Predictions Div 1 North Saturday 4th March KO 2 30.

The woes and sore heads of Murrayfield are behind us as we move on to some cracking league matches this Saturday.

The title chase is hotting up and there are relegation battles galore. We start at Pentre Mawr where bottom club Abergele who are putting up gallant efforts to get that elusive first league success face a difficult task when they host 4th placed Bala. The high scoring visitors are in good form with three successive wins and won 74-19 at Maes Gwyniad in the reverse fixture. An away win on the cards here.

A great battle in prospect at Cae Dafydd when Bethesda (9th) take on Rhuthun(10th). Pesda have lost their last two games whilst Rhuthun had a good home win against Bro last time out. There are only two points separating the sides and they both need a W to get out of the relegation zone. It was a close 13-8 earlier in the season when Pesda took the spoils. It could be close again on Saturday with the home team having the edge.

An exciting match on the cards at Y Morfa when league leaders Nant fresh from their 1/4 final WRU Plate success are the visitors. The Cofis are 11 points adrift of the leaders in third place are going well and on their day are fully capable of causing an upset to the form book and open up the league title contest. Equally Nant are in fine winning form and won 26-8 at Pant Carw in October and will look to repeat this success.

Llandudno who lie in 6th position welcome second from bottom COBRA who have battled hard to move up the table with two successive wins. Tudno won 20-8 at Meifod last year and may on form have enough power to take the points again on Saturday.

Mold (7th) who have lost their last three matches host 8th placed Colwyn Bay who lie two points behind them in the league. Bay won 28-10 in corresponding fixture but the Chester Road outfit could turn the tables this time round.

Second placed Pwllheli welcome Bro (5th) to Bodegroes. The current league champions lost out on a WRU Plate semi final spot last time out after enjoying a healthy lead until late in the game. They will be keen to get back on track which could be a tough ask on Bro who have lost last three. Money on home win here.
