The first fixture for a while following a lengthy delay due to restrictions, Gele U15s took to the field in soggy conditions on Sunday morning as they welcomed a well oiled Wrexham U15s outfit. The scoreline didn't reflect the game too much and Head Coach Chris Meyers will be pleased with the showing of his men. From the get go the Gele Boys made a good account of themselves, with the likes of Ethan Hall and Tom Taylor scrummaging well for their first competitive experience in the front row, with the latter also demonstrating some fine line out throws in the process. As ever, Nathan Price, Oliver Brown and Mason Atkinson put their bodies on the line with some textbook tackling and lung busting carries, further backed by superb rucking from Alex Sanders and a warm mention to Jack Zachert on his first ever game, superb enthusiasm and determination. To finish off the performances in the pack, Captain Max Haddon lead from the front, with big hits and a helping hand for his team mates as and when needed in the heat of the battle. Notably, Jaydon Blears had a superb game, making his debut for Gele and offering plenty of chat, jackling, running and lineout presence, a well earnt Man of The Match display for our new recruit. Now, for the backs! Harvey and Hayden Meyers stood up to the mark, playing an age group up so to speak, they controlled the game well from the pivotal 9 & 10 positions, also rocking the mullet which is a fan favourite. Bailey Harrington-Booker made a good show of himself playing his first game in the centre, with his trademark carries and ball ripping skills, he will certainly flourish as he gains more experience. Centre partner, Cameron Poole continued his good form of past times with some line busting running and big hits coming in when in defence. Dylan Williams was ever present on the wing with some great gain line running and tenacious tackles as always, he was accompanied by fellow winger Harrison Catherall who is releatively new to the game, but certainly had his dancing shoes on when carrying the ball. Riley Aleks assumed the full back position and did well with lots of kicks coming down his channel, given the poor weather conditions. As always, we appreciate the efforst from volunteers and parents who make this happen, we are always on the lookout for new players and welcome an open ended conversation to discuss how we can on-board new coaches, volunteers and players alike.
